Whether you’re sale-savvy or just looking for a chance to cut the price down on something big you’ve been eyeing up, Memorial Day sales can get you a heck of a lot more than a shiny new car or some furniture. This weekend is a great time of year to make all kinds of major investments—some of the biggest ones we make as runners involve heavy-duty gym equipment, such as treadmills, and plenty are slated to have big discounts through the end of May.
Let’s be real: A treadmill might not be at the top of your shopping list as the sunny days of summer creep closer, but that’s exactly why this weekend is the perfect time to score a huge deal on your next piece of gym equipment—you’re a lot more likely to save big while nobody else is looking. We’ve collected the most worthwhile deals for you to check out here.
Memorial Day 2024 Running Treadmill Deals
On the heavy-duty treadmill front, we’re happy to see some test team-approved models, like the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and Horizon 7.8 AT getting some love from the discount gods. We’ve had both of these treadmills in our office—the latter, which is a whopping $700 cheaper, is still in our workout area, and we love it for its easy thumb-controlled speed and incline adjusters. Both of these ’mills offer exceptional platforms for streaming preset workouts, and they both have an adequately large and sturdy deck for volatile speedwork sessions and errant feet.
We’ve also found deals on other tested treadmills, such as NordicTrack’s more budget-friendly EXP 10i and one of our favorite folding treadmills, the Echelon Stride-6. These options both make performance sacrifices to serve other needs for convenience, such as money- and space-saving measures, but we’d still happily trot on them during our lunch breaks if we had them around.
In terms of percentages off, some of these deals may look like small price cuts, but you have to remember that 12 percent off a $1,700 treadmill is still a $200 savings opportunity. That’s enough for a nice dinner for you and a couple of loved ones to round out the long weekend.
Memorial Day 2024 Walking Pad Deals
Perhaps you’re looking for a treadmill that can slip away more easily than the behemoth running-dedicated models we listed earlier. If you want to get your feet moving without leaving the room, you may find that a walking pad or under-desk treadmill suits your needs without costing you too much money or square footage.
WalkingPad, the Kleenex of under-desk treadmill brands, has some of the most notable deals this weekend, including a cool $100 off one of its flagship models, the C2. A compact folder, this model can tuck away pretty much anywhere, and it’s light enough that you won’t need help moving it. And if you need something sturdier that can get you going a little faster, you can also shed $200 off the X21, a more redundantly constructed model with a higher max speed—fast enough to get a brisk jog in if you really want.
The walking pad waters tend to be pretty murky with cruddy rip-offs, so we don’t recommend pouncing on anything too cheap too quickly, but you can make a relatively safe investment in a discounted Urevo or Egofit under-desk treadmill, which you can find for up to $80 off this Memorial Day. They’re both cheaper options, and the latter has a pretty small platform that isn’t hospitable to long striders, but if saving space is paramount, you can’t go wrong here.
